Are coffee and tea the only plants that contain caffeine?

Many people think so, but that's not true!

Caffeine is actually a natural alkaloid found in more than 60 different plant species around the world. Besides coffee and tea, plants like guarana, kola nut, yerba mate, and the cacao bean also contain caffeine.

Guarana seeds, for example, have even higher caffeine content than coffee beans. Kola nut is famously used in some sodas to give them an energy kick.

Yerba mate, popular in South America, is known for providing a smooth, balanced energy boost. Even chocolate lovers might be surprised to learn that cocoa-beans contain about 0.2% caffeine.

While moderate caffeine intake can improve alertness and focus, too much may cause insomnia or jitters. So, it's important to enjoy these natural sources in balance for better health.
